Carbon Cool Challenge

with 3 comments

Salt Spring Coffee and the Sierra Club of BC have a competiton on line. Fairly modest prizes (though I could do with a year’s supply of coffee) but mostly about raising awareness of what you can do to reduce your carbon footprint. Have a look and refer your friends.

  1. I am responding to the challenge—–I have cancelled teresan gas and got 6 cords of wood—–If I can find a good price on coal I will burn that too—I will also burn construction material and all that paper that arrives in my mail box everyday.

If you read section J from Campbells climate plan —-There are 52 suggestions from the premier to reduce your footprint—#1 buy quality goods(if you can afford it) #2 Shut your car off if your idling more than 10 seconds(You can buy good rebuilt starters on line when you burn yours out) #3 take shorter showers (I challenge everyone to shower only once a month)

Heres a few the GREAT ALL KNOWING VISIONARY PREMIER MISSED—-#1 Don`t fly to maui 6 times a year (you can drink pina coladas here) #2 David Suzuki get rid of that old polluting diesel bus that you drive all accross Canada #3 Buy single ply tissue paper only (or even better don`t use paper at all, YOU ALL MUST SACRIFICE)

  2. I gather that first comment was a joke, right, as burning wood generates significant air pollution. This is teh first local fact sheet that came up on a Google search:

  3. No joke—teresan has gone up 22% since march of this year—-there are tens of thousands of other rural bcers that will be doing the same, people arn`t endless atms —Campbell promotes offshore oil and gas and allows alcan ,the cement industry and the oil and gas companies to pollute carbon free of charge and hes given the oil and gas sector 700 million in subsidies for this and next year.Go after the big polluters!

Campbell is a theif!—-The province makes billions on natural gas ,yet he stills wants to gouge everyone for cleaner natural gas—-I did the math the 2 increases this year will cost me 700 dollars a year more and I have to pay an escalating carbon tax on top of it!

bc hydro up up up —translink up up up —translink in the fall is going to add congestion charges and vehicle levies, ICBC up up up even with big surpluses!

Campbell is a liar!—-reduce income tax by 70 dollars and add 2 hundred dollars in new fees, I will save a thousand dollars a year or more by burning firewood!

Bc ferries up up up —MSP up up up—-12 cents a liter going to translink—property taxes raised by translink—All the money Campbell is stealing is for the olympics(he needs 3 billion) —but he won`t fund transit(just art centers) Goodbye Campbell –(whats the point of a nuetrol carbon tax) because it isn`t nuetrol its a shift of dollars from middle class to big industry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
