I never thought I would find myself agreeing with Christy Clark

Popular broadcaster, columnist and former provincial Liberal cabinet minister, Christy Clark, called on her thousands of listeners across BC to join her in voting yes for BC-STV in the referendum on May 12 to bring civility and fairness to British Columbia politics.

  1. This STV is a “me first” model – smaller parties will not even have to care about the broader issues.

All they would have to do is to appeal to a small special interest constituency in order to get seats. Then, once they get a few seats, in an unseemly way, they will barter or sell their influence to the highest bidder in order to have some, perhaps massively disproportionate, influence.

  2. It is no longer an issue, Mark. The BC Liberals and NDP can go on as they have been – appealing to special interests, bartering and selling their influence to their funders and supporters. They will, as they always have add things to their pre-election promises they have no intention of doing – and will rule as elected dictatorships. And electoral reform will not get raised in BC again for another generation.
